The Northeast Self Storage Association is returning to the Publick House Historic Inn for our annual Spring Retreat!

With Halloween approaching, our presenter, Jeffrey J. Greenberger, a partner at Greenberger & Brewer, LLP in Cincinnati is back to present a webinar on a new list of actions in your operations that can expose you to a lawsuit. These will not be the basics, such as a failure to properly conduct a lien sale. Rather, Jeff wants to take you on a more advanced review of the other things you do (or fail to do) that can put you at risk for a lawsuit.
Topics include: Failure to properly verify the source of a request to change an occupant’s address or email; failure to properly prepare for the storage of and ask for information about vehicles stored in the space; and failure to properly understand and require Occupant’s indemnity in your Rental Agreement. The goal is to make sure that you avoid an unpleasant and spooky lawsuit surprise that you could have managed to control and avoid if you had taken proper precautions along the way.
As always, Jeff will present the webinar in a lighthearted manner and allow time to answer your questions.
Applications for NeSSA’s 2018 Stephen M. Tranni Acadmemic Scholarship are due to the office by Saturday, September 15, 2018.
Applicants must be an employee of or related to a member of the Northeast Self Storage Association, and are enrolled or enrolling in a school of higher education.
Scholarships will be chosen by a committee of volunteers from NeSSA and will be awarded each year at the Northeast Storage EXPO held every fall. If there is more than one applicant the committee deems worthy of a scholarship, the amount may be split into differing levels and presented to more than one individual.
Scholarships are based on the applicant’s responses to the questions on the application.
Completed applications must be received no later than September 15 for the current/upcoming academic year.
- The applicant must be an employee of, or related to, a member of NeSSA.
- Applicants cannot be related to scholarship committee members.
- The applicant must be enrolled or enrolling in a school of higher education, either full-time or part-time (technical college, 2- or 4-year college, graduate school, etc.), and able to provide proof of acceptance or attendance.
- Proof of acceptance or attendance can include your letter of acceptance, transcript, etc.
- The application will include questions and a 300-600 word essay which will provide a response to a posed question and demonstrate the applicant’s thoughts on the importance of higher education.
- The scholarship must be used for the current/upcoming academic school year.
- The applicant must submit a completed application with all required supporting documents by the noted deadline of September 15.
- The scholarship recipient(s) will be honored at the fall 2018 Northeast Storage EXPO. One need not be present to accept.
