As summer begins to wind down, I hope you’ve had an opportunity to enjoy some well-deserved time with family, friends, and colleagues. Here at NeSSA, we’re grateful for the strong engagement we’ve seen throughout the year and excited about what’s still ahead.

In July, we hosted our very first Summer Social on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Attendees spent a wonderful afternoon aboard the M/S Mount Washington, enjoying lunch, refreshments, incredible scenery, and, most importantly, the opportunity to connect with fellow self storage professionals. A special thank you goes to U-Haul of New Hampshire and All-Purpose Storage Management for sponsoring this new event and helping make it such a success. We’d love to continue offering unique networking opportunities like this in the future, so please keep an eye on our website for upcoming events and don’t hesitate to share ideas for gatherings you’d like to see NeSSA host.

Our next opportunity to connect is right around the corner. NeSSA’s Fall Retreat returns to the Publick House Historic Inn in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, on September 24. This event has long been a favorite among our members and provides an excellent opportunity for both industry veterans and newcomers to learn, network, and exchange ideas.

This year’s program features an exciting presentation from Universal Storage Group, “Outselling the Giants: How Independent Operators Can Beat the REITs.” With increasing competition from larger operators, this session will provide practical strategies to help independent facilities leverage their strengths, compete effectively, and continue to thrive. We’re also bringing back our popular Focus Groups, along with an inspirational session designed to help owners and managers maximize their impact without holding themselves - or their teams - back. Believe it or not, membership renewal season is just around the corner. This fall, you’ll receive your NeSSA dues renewal information, which will coincide with registration for booth space at our 2027 EXPO. We sincerely appreciate your continued support and hope NeSSA remains a valuable resource for you and your business. Whether you need a referral, guidance on the lien process, operational advice, or simply a trusted industry connection, please remember that your association is here to help.

Finally, I would like to encourage anyone interested in becoming more involved with NeSSA to consider serving on our Board of Directors. One of the greatest strengths of our association is the willingness of members to volunteer their time, experience, and ideas for the benefit of the industry. Serving on the Board is a rewarding opportunity to help shape the future of NeSSA, build meaningful professional relationships, and give back to a community that supports us all. If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, I encourage you to submit an application through our website. Applications are due Friday, October 9.
